The initial steps for the international coordination of fashion colours in the shoe and leather sectors were taken in Switzerland in the 1950s. In 1960, EUROMODE was founded by the largest European leather and shoe institutions of the time.
EUROMODE changed its name to MODEUROP at the end of 1965.
For more than 30 years, the head office of MODEUROP was located in Switzerland. Afterwards, it moved to Austria.
A large congress for defining fashion colours for the season after next took place twice a year. The congresses increased in scope, lasted longer and became more expensive, so MODEUROP searched for new, more efficient organisational structures.
Finally, the MODEUROP was integrated in the German Shoe Institute (DSI) as an organisation at the end of the 1990s.
In 2008, MODEUROP – fashion pool within DSI – was formed, from which the entire sector can obtain all important leather-, shoe- and bag-related fashion information quickly and proactively.
